Visiting Singapore with kids during the haze

🦦 Hello from Ollie! If you're here on holiday with your family and the sky looks hazy, don't worry. You can still have a lovely trip. This page explains what haze means for visitors, how to check the air, and where to go indoors when it's better to stay inside.

What haze means for visitors

Haze is smoke in the air, usually blown over from fires in the region. It can change a lot from hour to hour and from one part of Singapore to another. On some days it's barely noticeable; on others it's best to keep outdoor time short. Singapore's government publishes official readings and health advice, and that's what we use.

How to read our live number

Quick answers

Is it safe to visit Singapore during the haze?

It depends on the reading on the day and on your family's health. Check the live 1-hour PM2.5 for the next few hours and MOH's haze health advisory. Children, the elderly, pregnant women and people with heart or lung conditions should take more care.

What should I pack for kids for haze in Singapore?

Medication your child already uses, such as asthma inhalers, a water bottle, and masks that follow MOH's advice for children. MOH advises drinking plenty of water.

Which number should I check before going out?

For the next few hours, MOH says to use the latest 1-hour PM2.5 reading. The 24-hour PSI forecast is for planning the next day.

What can families do indoors on a hazy day?

Singapore has many indoor options, such as Jewel Changi Airport, KidZania on Sentosa, the Singapore Oceanarium and museums. See the Haze Buddy indoor activities list.

Should I change my flight or hotel plans?

Check directly with your airline and hotel for the latest on flights, bookings and facilities.
